Toddlers

Growth and Development

1 – 3 years

After 1 year of age a child’s growth begins to slow down and their appetite lessens.

Toddlers are:

  • Fun loving, chatty and love to play games with you.
  • Curious and want to explore.
  • Show independence.
  • Beginning to feed themselves.

But:

  • Become frustrated especially when they are learning new skills.
  • Have quick mood changes.
  • Become sad and anxious when their parents / care-givers leave them.
  • Can be clingy and wary of strangers.
  • Can be fussy about what, when and where to eat.
