Ideal weaning diet for your baby

From 6 months old, your baby can go on a weaning diet. This is the first step for making your baby get acquaintance with a much healthier diet and preparing for a normal diet in the near future. In order that your baby will have a good appetite for a new diet, the weaning diet needs to contain 4 groups of foods: starch, fats, vegetables, and protein.

Starch:                                         

  • Foods: rice, bean, potato, wheat …
  • Amount: depends on the consistency
  • How to make:

* 6 months: super fine powder
* 7 months: moderate fine powder
* 8 months: puree porridge
* 9 – 12 months: fine grain porridge
* 12 months: grain porridge

Protein:

  • Foods: meats, fish, shrimp, crab, tofu, beans, egg …
  • Amount: 30 grams/ 2 tablespoons
  • How to make:

*  6 – 7 months: puree and soft protein

*  8 – 9 months: minced

*  9 – 12 months: minced

*  Over 12 months: chopped

Vegetables:

  • Foods: leaf and tuber vegetables, fruits …
  • Amount: 20 grams/ 2 tablespoons
  • How to make:

*  6 – 8 months: puree chopped

*  9 – 12 months: chopped

*  Over 12 months: chopped and eat with leaves, fruit slices.

Fats:

  • Foods: cooking oil, fats of fish, lard, butter …
  • Amount: 6 – 10 grams/ 1 tablespoon
  • How to make: put fats into hot porridge or powder

Note:

  • Salad oil: do not need to be cooked
  • Cooking oil: need to be cooked before eating

Misunderstanding perceptions in making a weaning diet for a baby:

  • The more the baby eats meat, the healthier it becomes
  • Do not eat oil when the baby gets sick
  • Grinding all the food for the baby
  • Steamed the food to get the gourmet
  • Do not eat marine fish, egg, and beef
  • Feeding the baby too many nutritious foods at a time
  • Drink much water
  • Drink milk instead of eating
